19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard court since March of that year.
Victory also means the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.
The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to push for a decider.
He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
